With the impact of COVID has brought on our businesses over the past several months, many firms have come to realize the importance of third-party providers to deliver services. - With this highlighted importance, brings greater scrutiny when selecting your third-party partner. 

In our Selecting the Service Provider course we discuss the pros/cons of sole-source versus competitive sourcing, the  development of effective  sourcing documents (e.g., RFI, RFP), how to prepare for contract discussions, and a review of contract structures and key terms and conditions.

This course will be of interest and value if you are about to become or are involved in the engagement phase for an outsourcing transaction.

Individuals who attend the Selecting the Service Provider course will leave with a comprehensive understanding of the key documents (RFX) that can be used in the sourcing process, contract components (e.g., MSA, SOW, SLA), terms & conditions, techniques for negotiating contracts/renewals, and performance management considerations.

This is one of the four courses which contribute to the AOP certification program. SCMP Designation holders do not need to take this course to get their AOP designation.

Course Objectives

  • Review the positioning of selecting the provider and negotiating the contract (the engagement phase) within the outsourcing transaction lifecycle and review the importance of this phase.
  • Identify leading practices in the development of an effective Request for Proposal (RFP) and the differences between various go-to-market documents.
  • Discuss key considerations pertaining to the negotiation / re-negotiation / renewal of an outsourcing agreement.
  • Describe the key components of an outsourcing agreement, including terms & conditions, statements of work, and service level agreements.
  • Identify keys to successfully managing change over the term of a multi-year agreement.

Course Format

This four-day virtual course is facilitated by some of the most experienced outsourcing professionals. The sessions are supplemented with group workshops/exercises which provide participants with opportunities to share experiences and apply their learnings.

This is one of the four courses which contribute to the AOP certification program and for individuals with an AOP accreditation they will receive credits towards recertification.

This course is not offered in French.

Those who complete the course will receive a digital badge from Supply Chain Canada and SCMPs will earn 5 CPD credits per course. We kindly ask members to enter their activity independently following this course.
